Adieu For Now

| More

Welcome to the (second to) last podcast of the FM Experiment with DJ Joyride from KNDS 96.3FM Fargo-Moorhead. I do have 1 more show to post, but I've already packed the computer that contains the files. The last show, which aired on October 28th, 2011, was sprinkled with call-in messages from the DJs, promoters, and friends that I have worked with over the last 8 years at the station. I think it made the show pretty special.

Please keep in touch with me. I hope that it will not take long to begin creating new greatness in Portland, OR. My phone: 612-234-1143 and nicholas.goodroad [at] gm ~a~ il.com --- take time now to add me to your contact list.

Looking to the Future, Joyride gazes at the stars. KEEP IN TOUCH.

Grindfest 2 Coming Soon...

| More

Click the image to go to the Facebook Events.

LESS THAN 1 WEEK AWAY FROM THE RETURN OF THE GRINDHOUSE TRAILERS FESTIVAL!

Time flies when you’re having fun.  Time flies even faster when you’re busy putting the finishing touches on an event like GRINDFEST!

With less than a week until the next presentation, the proverbial “promotional train” is blazing down the tracks.  Film critic Christopher Jacobs published his review of GRINDFEST 2 in this week’s issue of the High Plains Reader (click the link to read that article: http://hpr1.com/film/article/battle_of_the_filmfests).  And starting tonight during the F-M Experiment (6p -8p), our sponsors - KNDS 96.3 FM - will be giving away a pair of DOUBLE FEATURE tickets.  Don’t fret if you miss your chance though as KNDS will be giving away 2 more sets of DOUBLE FEATURE tickets on Wednesday, April 20th, during The Live Jack’d Radio Show (5p – 7p) and Radio Red-E (9p – 12p).  Speaking of radio, your fearless festival promoters will also be joining Dave Jacobs and Robbie Daniels next week on 107.9 FM during The Fox Morning Show to talk about trashy trailers and the people who love them!

Although we’re busy trying to get the word out about GRINDFEST 2 there is only so much we can do.  If you know someone who loves film (or is just looking for something to do on a Thursday night) please forward this message along.  Spread the word about this wholly-unique, ONE NIGHT ONLY experience!

And if you haven’t already planned to attend this cinematic circus, there is still plenty of time to clear your schedule and prepare yourself for a night of shock and schlock.

WE HOPE TO SEE YOU AT THE GRINDFEST!

Art de Trois: a fine new years experience

| More

A message from Amber Parsons (Director, Midwest Mud)
Hello,
I am the director of Midwest Mud, we recently became members of the FMVA. The reason I am contacting you is to inform you about an event that involves Midwest Mud, SeaGrave Studios, and Roberts Street Studio. Our creative efforts are uniting to throw a New Years Eve event called Art de Trois. The idea behind the event is to unit downtown art with downtown businesses. The slogan for the event is Fine Art, Fine Dining, Fine Experience.  The event will be hosted at the newly opened Station House Cooperative as sort of a soft grand opening/ house warming event. This will be a black tie event, where ceramic artists from Midwest Mud and Roberts Street Studio will be creating the dinnerware and the Green Market Kitchen has been invited to do the catering (this is were we get the Fine Art crossed with Fine Dining). The Fine Experience comes from the dance that will be held in the Sea Graves Studio located at 916 Main Ave and hosted by Icebreaks Entertainment. We will be selling tickets at Green Market and Nicole's Fine Pastry for $45.00/person. This price includes the meal from Green Market and the dinner ware which they meal is served.

In conjunction with the studio are also looking for artist to donate art for an art benefit to help support the event and the studios. The works donated will be displayed two week prior to the event at Red Raven Espresso Parlour, also located in the Station House. Promotional media will be released for this event at the end of this week.
If you have any questions please contact me at 701-219-3388

Metric Remixes... and Studio Crawl

| More

I know I haven't been posting in a while... I'll post more regularly during the school year.

This first weekend in October brings one of our favorite events to the Fargo-Moorhead area. The FMVA Studio Crawl is a chance to meet local visual artists in their creative environments.
Information about the 2010 Studio Crawl is now available at www.fmva.us/studiocrawl! Mark your calendar for Oct 2nd and 3rd, preview the work of all 39 artists in the 2010 Studio Crawl Gallery
At the FM Experiment, we've been a big fan of Metric for a very long time. They are hosting a remix contest and you can reap the rewards. This page has links to hundreds of Metric remixes, organized by song title. You can thank us by telling more friends about the Friday Night Frequency Sessions.
REMIX CONTEST PAGE (click here)
One more thing... If you listen to the FM Experiment from 6 - 8pm tonight, you can catch up with Adam, aka  "Slowkid" --- he's a lyricist and beatboxer from the Fargo area and he'll be performing on Saturday night at the VFW. The show is called Saturday Night Annihilate. Event details are here: http://www.fargoscene.com/groups/hip-hop/forum/topic/saturday-night-annihilate/

1 Hour Stanton Warriors Promo Mix

| More

I left DW in charge of The Experiment on Friday in order to see the Stanton Warriors turn a high-class, dress-code dance club on 1st Avenue in Minneapolis into a hand-pumping, gyrating, pulsing frenzy. It was worth every second, and I'd like to share parts of my experience with you. Below, you'll find a slideshow gallery from the night and a 1 hour promo set recorded by Stanton Warriors about 15 days ago. Feel the flow... please respond. ~ Joyride

(above: this should be a slideshow of the Stanton Warriors show @ Envy)
The entire photo gallery of their show in Minneapolis is here:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/simmpls/sets/72157608162733074/
(thanks to Sound In Motion)

And now for the audio:
Stanton Warriors October 2008 Promo Mix
(just a piece of what we heard) (.MP3)
Our favorite parts of the set*:
"Hands Up, Thumbs Down ... Represent that B-Town"
Body Language (Bookashade) + "I've got 1 in the front, and 2 in the back. I've got so much Booty I Don't Know how to act"
Simian + Breakbeats "Because We Are - - Your Friends, You'll Never Be Alone Again"
Frankie Valli - Beggin'
Those deep, bleepy, farty basslines!
"Shake It Up Girl, Shake It Like It's For The Camera"'
(* some of these samples only made it to the live performance that was twice as long as this recording)

Thank you for supporting those that support us, including Saboingaden - a fargo events blog and Orange Records - local record shop.
