Metric Remixes... and Studio Crawl

I know I haven't been posting in a while... I'll post more regularly during the school year.

This first weekend in October brings one of our favorite events to the Fargo-Moorhead area. The FMVA Studio Crawl is a chance to meet local visual artists in their creative environments.

Information about the 2010 Studio Crawl is now available at www.fmva.us/studiocrawl! Mark your calendar for Oct 2nd and 3rd, preview the work of all 39 artists in the 2010 Studio Crawl Gallery

At the FM Experiment, we've been a big fan of Metric for a very long time. They are hosting a remix contest and you can reap the rewards. This page has links to hundreds of Metric remixes, organized by song title. You can thank us by telling more friends about the Friday Night Frequency Sessions.

One more thing... If you listen to the FM Experiment from 6 - 8pm tonight, you can catch up with Adam, aka  "Slowkid" --- he's a lyricist and beatboxer from the Fargo area and he'll be performing on Saturday night at the VFW. The show is called Saturday Night Annihilate. Event details are here: http://www.fargoscene.com/groups/hip-hop/forum/topic/saturday-night-annihilate/

Ep. 67: The King of Pop Is Dead

So much has happened this week. While we would like to pay tribute to the King of Pop, we realize that his music will live on forever and so we let him pass with grace and honor. 65million records and more smiles than a billion McDonalds'.

The second half of the show features the interview made with Marine Parade kingpin and breakbeat Messiah, Adam Freeland. I know you're gonna dig this.

Lastly, there will be no program on July 3rd but we'll be back on July 10th broadcasting LIVE from Teaberry on the 100 block of downtown broadway; Fargo, ND. You know the place, you know the drill. Teaberry has expanded their delicious menu to include shakes and the ultra-refreshing Aloe Vera Tea. Mmmm....

Backstreet Boys Re-Hashed

My friend, James, at the Music Without Turntables Podcast is a prolific remixer that got is soulful start in the same 2-step and Garage music that I did. I envy his ability to put remixes together on the regular... like this one. It's a remix of We've Got It Going On that he put together while mashing up the original music video. I hope you enjoy it.

BACKSTREET BOYS - WE'VE GOT IT GOING ON (Almeida Remix)

Over my lunch break today, I was lucky to interview the incomparable Adam Freeland, head of Marine Parade Records for airing on The FM Experiment this Friday night. Adam has been a huge influence on my love of breakbeat, nu skool, and funk/rock fusion music for years. The new incarnation of FREELAND, an album and tour called COPE, features the ultimate rock/electro combo with recording talents Tommy Lee, Twiggy Ramirez, and Joey Santaigo. Get tuned into the show this Friday night to hear the interview.
